This weeks readings and question of the week:

Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday.  And as you meditate on them, consider the question of the week:

“To whom is God sending me this week as an “ambassador of unconditional Love?”  That is, who is the least like person for me to reach out to?”

Numbers 21: 4-9

Psalm 107:1-3, 17-21

Ephesians 2: 1-10

John 3:14-21

John 3:14-17

Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

John 3:16 is cited by chapter and verse alone on road signs and on banners in bleachers, a witness to its “sound bite status” as one commentator observed.  Christians know the verse well because it is a straightforward expression of God’s love for the world and promise of eternal life.  But we must read the “rest of the story” – or the following verses as well.  We are clearly warned that there are the saved and the unsaved, those that believe and those who are condemned.  And we are called as believers to share this very simple “GOOD NEWS” – that GOD LOVES THEM and gave his Son so that with confession and forgiveness – all can have eternal life.  But we need to bring the good news to others.  So rejoice in the simplicity of the Gospel – but also share it with others!

How are you doing answering this  past week’s question
of the week from the bulletin?

What does Jesus have to “drive out” of the temple of my soul, what “tables overturn” to transform my heart from a “marketplace” in to “the Father’s house”?”
