Happy are the People Whose God is the Lord

September is  here! Prayers are needed for our youngsters who have started school and for the health of some of our older members and for everyone in-between.  Hold up your brothers and sisters in prayer every day and watch how God will bless you for blessing others.

Dont forget to “save the date” for our end of summer church cookout on Saturday, September 26 from 2-5 pm in Exeter. We need help with planning events, games, music, and food! We will discuss this after the service for the next couple weeks so think about how you can contribute!
We need at least three people to serve on a short-term committee. The Nominating committee needs to be formed by September 1 to pray, recruit and nominate at least two members for the Board of Directors. This is a two month commitment.  See below for more details.  Also see important information below about our Greeter’s Ministry and Transportation Ministry!
Please take the time to read the articles and information in this week’s “GOOD NEWS” including a change with our prayer list. Feel free to forward this newsletter to a family member or friend, or share it on your facebook page or twitter by using the “like” and “share” icons at the top of the page.

This weeks readings and question of the week:

Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday.  And as you meditate on them, consider the Question of the Week:

Noting the communal aspect of this healing in the gospel, since others brought the man to Jesus, have I brought anyone to Jesus lately? Is there someone I should invite?
Isaiah 35:4-7a
Psalm 146 :4-9
James 2:1-5
Mark 7:31-37
Psalm 146:4-9
Happy are they who have the God of Jacob for their help!*
whose hope is in the LORD their God;
Who made heaven and earth, the seas, and all that is in them;
who keeps his promise for ever;
Who gives justice to those who are oppressed, *
and food to those who hunger.
The LORD sets the prisoners free;
the LORD opens the eyes of the blind; *
the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down;
The LORD loves the righteous;
the LORD cares for the stranger; *
he sustains the orphan and widow,
but frustrates the way of the wicked.

The LORD shall reign for ever, *
your God, O Zion, throughout all generations.
Hallelujah!
The psalmist encourages us to put confidence in God. We must hope in the providence of God for all we need as to this life, and in the grace of God for that which is to come. The God of heaven became a man that he might become our salvation. Though he died on the cross for our sins, and was laid in the grave, yet his thoughts of love to us did not perish; he rose again to fulfil them. When on earth, his miracles were examples of what he is still doing every day. He grants deliverance to captives bound in the chains of sin and Satan. He opens the eyes of the understanding. He feeds with the bread of life those who hunger for salvation; and he is the constant Friend of the poor in spirit, the helpless: with him poor sinners, that are as fatherless, find mercy; and his kingdom shall continue for ever. Then let sinners flee to him, and believers rejoice in him. And as the Lord shall reign for ever, let us stir up each other to praise his holy name.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS –

Now is the time to start looking ahead to our Annual Meeting in November and looking for new persons to fill the board.  Every year, two terms expire – so we have at least two positions to fill, but we can also add more members to the Board of Directors.
We will be seeking new board members before our November Annual meeting – if you are interested in being on the Board of Directors, see Jerry Schearer, Fr. Henry, or any of the other board members for more information or to express your interest.   If you want to be part of the Nominating Committee that  we are not forming, please see Jerry.  This committee will be responsible to find at least two people to serve on the Board and then present these at the Annual Meeting to be voted on.

GREETER CLASS – SEPTEMBER 13

We love our greeters!  And we could use more!  They are the first impression for visitors and a welcoming smile when returners enter the chapel.  Its an important part of our ministry!

How are you doing answering this  past week’s
question of the week?
What religious tradition enriches my personal faith life?  How does it prompt me to translate my spiritual devotion into practical love toward my neighbor?
