This Week’s GOOD NEWS

We had a great Feast Day Celebration and Annual Meeting. Thanks to those who could make it.  If you didn’t make it, please see various articles below about the meeting and ways that you can get involved in the ministry of All Souls.

CONGRATULATIONS! To Linda and Lou who were married on Saturday, October 31. We wish you many years of happiness and joy together!  We are blessed to have you as part of All Souls.    Many thanks to Fr. Henry who officiated the wedding, Ben who was Lay Assistant, Wendy for doing a reading, Rusty for Prayers of the People, and Joan for being a chalicer.  The wedding and the reception were a nice celebration of love and commitment.

Please take the time to read the articles and information in this week’s “GOOD NEWS” including a change with our prayer list. This weeks readings and question of the week:
Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday.  And as you meditate on them, consider the Question of the Week:

In these though economic times, when the virtue of prudence demands careful stewardship of our limited resources, what will it mean for me, this week and during the holiday season, to give “all I have” to serve others.?
1 Kings 17:10-16
Psalm 146: 4-9
Hebrews 9:24-28
Mark 12:38-44

Hebrews 9:26-28
But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to remove sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for mortals to die once, and after that the judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

If you thought the human high priest had power, you might want to take a peek at Jesus. He isn’t fumbling around in earthly temples: he’s going straight for the source of power in the universe-God.  Jesus saved the world with blood, but it was a one-time deal only. That’s how powerful his sacrifice was, and that’s why it’s that much better than anything humans could dream up.
The writer of Hebrews tells us that our salvation isn’t dependent upon our repeated and numerous confessions. The sacrifice of Christ, once and for all, has made us right with God. Not that we don’t humbly stand before God, recognizing that we often fall short. We should and do. But the piece of real estate we stand on is at the foot of the cross, grateful that God sees us through the “once and for all” sacrifice of Jesus. That’s a generous God!
Loving God, we stand at the cross, seeking your mercy. Forgive us for all the times and ways we have let you down. Thank you for seeing us through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you for attending out our FEAST DAY CELEBRATION last week and helping to remember all the Saints who have gone before.

Thank you also to all those who were part of our pot-luck celebration at our Annual Meeting as we reviewed our past year and discussed our future years ahead.  It was a great celebration of God’s blessing on All Souls.

Web-Site Review Team

Is our website effective?   Are there ideas to make it better?
Do you have an eye for detail?     Have any technical skills?
If you want to be on a short web-site review team, please see Henry, Kimmie, or any board member.

How are you doing answering this  past week’s
question of the week?
What can I do to make someone feel that they belong again to the family of God’s people?  Who among my beloved departed should I make a conscious effort to imitate because of their faithful lives?
