A DAY OF SERVICE

A Service of Service

Sunday, October 11

Jesus taught that greatness is found in serving others. On Sunday, October 11 we will be doing just that.

We will be stacking firewood, doing other yard work, and visiting and fellowshipping with Kent and MaryAnn. Everyone is welcome! Wear your work clothes (and gloves if you have them) if you want to work outside. Or bring your stories and spirit of sharing to have conversations with Kent and MaryAnn inside with some food and drinks.

Will meet at 12 pm and work

for about two hours:

400 Westley Road, Mohnton, PA 19540

DUE TO WEATHER – Service Day may be moved to Saturday OR start earlier on Sunday morning. So, it’s important to call or text Martin on Friday if you plan to help with the Day of Service.

Berks Coalition to End Homelessness

For the month of October, we will be collecting the following items:

Conditioner

Men and Women’s Deodorant

“Fully Human, Truly Church

An Ever-Expanding Circle of Belonging”

We will focus on basic truths about what it means to follow the crucified Christ in any age. It speaks to the personal dimension, as we are called to honor our full humanity as modeled by Jesus who we confess to be “Fully Human”. “Truly Church” speaks to how we are to be in community together.

These two points of focus demand that we ask important questions. “An ever-expanding circle of belonging” provides our key for exploring.

Our speakers will draw us into conversations that address those questions as a body, as individual communities and as faithful disciples. We will look at what it means to be the Church in our age – particularly what it means to open up paths to the future that have yet to be named or explored.

Will meet at 12 pm and work for about two hours: 400 Westley Road, Mohnton, PA 19540

Please see Martin in church on October 4 or text (410-948-0721) him to let him know if you will be joining in our “Service of Service” and if you will meet us there or if you want to carpool from the church. Please let him know by Friday, October 9 if you will be assisting – and if you will meet the group at the house or carpool from the church.

Let differences unite us in dialogue instead of division, and may justice and mercy prevail in every heart.

To everyone who helped with the Bobby Jo Valentine Concert – advertising, ushering, helping in any way! We appreciate all the team work that went into this successful event.

$510 was raised at the concert and will be donated to the LGBTQ Center of Berks County and Reading Pride.

Prayer before service: 10 minutes (when candles are lit) before mass, we ask for silent reverence and prayer in the Chapel. And please set all phones to SILENT or OFF. Thank you.
