In this week and season – we wish you much LOVE! The 4th Sunday of Advent here which means Christmas is next week! Are you ready? Not with the tree or presents – but is your heart ready? Have you met Fr. Henry’s challenges of praying “Come Lord Jesus, come and be born in my heart” every day? I’ll admit – I’ve missed a few rushed days as well. But lets make a special commitment to make this our prayer from now until Christmas day – not just once a day, but often.
Please take time to read below for some important information about all the happening this week and I look forward to sharing the first part of Christmas with YOU at Midnight Mass! Feel free to pass on your Weekly All Souls Good News to a Friend! Seeing this for the first time? Click on “JOIN OUR MAILING LIST” over on the left hand blue column to get this directly to your email.
Blessings! – Jerry
This weeks readings:
Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday.
2 Samuel 7:1-11, 16
Psalm 89:1-4, 19-26
Romans 16:25-27
Luke 1:26-38
Luke 1: 38
Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.”
Take a moment and imagine the magnitude of what Mary was experiencing. Based on the marriage customs of the time, she was most likely in her early teens when she was betrothed to Joseph. Suddenly, an angel appears to her and tells her that she is going to give birth to the long-awaited Messiah. What great and pure faith she showed in her response! Her “yes” was immediate and unequivocal. This scripture passage is such a poignant reminder of the way that we are supposed to answer God’s call: courageously, willingly, and lovingly. Advent presents us with a great opportunity to reflect upon how we answer God’s call as we wait for the birth of our Savior. It gives us the opportunity to focus on saying “yes”, just like Mary, with a joyful loving heart.
