LENT 2024
On Wednesday of this week, February 14th, is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the holy season of Lent and Valentine’s Day. Our Eucharist will be celebrated at 7 PM with the imposition of ashes during Mass. Please join us and bring family and friends who may like to be a part of our Ash Wednesday service.
Our focus as individuals and as a parish community is to do our best in following the disciplines of this holy season: prayer, fasting and alms giving.
Prayer – select a special person in your life each week a say a little prayer each day for that individual.
Fasting – select a meal one day of the week where you will eat a little less, great for weight loss and healthy for the body as well.
Almsgiving – make a donation to our Lenten Fund which will assist us in our outreach programs. (see below)
On Valentine’s Day we show our loved one’s the proof of our love, may we prove the same LOVE to our God and our neighbor during this season of Lent.
Together as a parish community let us not only support one another with the commitment to regular attendance on Sunday but also in our journey together through Lenten sacrifices to Easter joy.
Fr. Henry
P.S. We have purchased a special Lenten Devotional for each of you. “The Little Black Book: Six-minute meditations on the Passion according to Luke”. If you didn’t get one this past Sunday – be sure to get one Wednesday.
P.S.S. Our Special Lenten Offering will start with Ash Wednesday. In addition to your normal Tithe and offering, you can also designate a gift for OPPORTUNITY HOUSE all through lent. Please be sure to designate this using the offering envelopes by designating an amount in the SPECIAL section or using PayPal.
