This weeks readings and question of the week:
Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday. And as you meditate on them, consider the question of the week:In what specific way this week can I translate my belief in Christ’s presence in the Eucharist into my practical service of Christ really present in someone who needs my love?
Exodus 24:3-8
Psalm 116:12-13, 15-16, 17-18
Hebrews 9:11-15
Mark 14:12-16, 22-26
Hebrews 9:14
How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
All of this weeks readings have two common themes.
The first theme is that of God’s sacrifice of Jesus the Son which allows us to have Salvation. The blood sacrifice for sin by the perfection of Jesus is what allows us to be the Children of God and Heirs with him as discussed the past two weeks.
The second theme is serving God and Jesus. Even the Jewish people in our Exodus reading tell Moses “Everything the Lord has said we will do”. The psalmist says “I am your servant”. In Hebrew’s our clean conscience allows us to serve the living God! And in Mark, an unnamed man, allows the disciples to use his home for preparations of the Passover/last supper. What are you doing to serve Him?
Please take time to read this weeks scriptures as you prepare for worship this week and reflect on sacrifice, salvation, and serving God.
