Greetings in the name of our risen Lord and Savior JESUS!
Summer is here – but still a lot of exciting things happening around the life of All Souls!

This Sunday is Lou’s ordination at 3 pm.  Lou has been a great part of our family as he has gone through seminary and various part time pastor positions.  Now we celebrate with him on his full time ministry and ordination!  We hope you can make it!

Opportunity House (June 27), and Reading Pride Festival (July 19).  Please see more information about those events below – and don’t forget about our last Pot Luck of the year on June 20– we hope you can make it and bring friends and your appetite!

Please take the time to read the articles and information in this week’s “GOOD NEWS”. There are some new links on the left column for ECC news – so check them out too! Feel free to forward this newsletter to a family member or friend, or share it on your facebook page or twitter by using the “like” and “share” icons at the top of the page.  MANY BLESSINGS!

This weeks readings and question of the week:

Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday.  And as you meditate on them, consider the question of the week:In what specific way this week can I translate my belief in Christ’s presence in the Eucharist into my practical service of Christ really present in someone who needs my love?

Exodus 24:3-8

Psalm 116:12-13, 15-16, 17-18

Hebrews 9:11-15

Mark 14:12-16, 22-26

Hebrews 9:14

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself  unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences  from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

All of this weeks readings have two common themes.

The first theme is that of God’s sacrifice of Jesus the Son which allows us to have Salvation.  The blood sacrifice for sin by the perfection of Jesus is what allows us to be the Children of God and Heirs with him as discussed the past two weeks.

The second theme is serving God and Jesus.  Even the Jewish people in our Exodus reading tell Moses “Everything the Lord has said we will do”.  The psalmist says “I am your servant”.  In Hebrew’s our clean conscience allows us to serve the living God! And in Mark, an unnamed man, allows the disciples to use his home for preparations of the Passover/last supper.  What are you doing to serve Him?

Please take time to read this weeks scriptures as you prepare for worship this week and reflect on sacrifice, salvation, and serving God.

Saturday, June 20

This will be our last pot luck until the fall!
We hope you can attend and bring friends, food, and appetites!

How are you doing answering this  past week’s question
of the week from the bulletin?

Is my prayer formal and formulaic only, or personal and intimate as Jesus with his Abba (Father)? How might I recover or deepen the warmth of a prayerful relationship with God?
