This weeks readings and question of the week:

Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday.  And as you meditate on them, consider the Question of the Week:

How do “jealousy and selfish ambition” manifest themselves in my life?  Specifically, what do I have to do to become more childlike in bearing witness to Christ?
Wisdom of Solomon 1:12. 17-20
Psalm 54
James 3:16-4:3
Mark 9:30-37
Mark 9: 35-37
“Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.” Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.”

Ustream the Commissioning of Bishop Frank Krebs on Friday, Sept. 18.
FROM THE ECC:
Exciting news for all those who won’t be able to join us in person this week for the Commissioning of Bishop Frank Krebs: we will be live streaming the ceremony so you can watch from home! We will be using a platform called Ustream, and you can access our channel here:http://www.ustream.tv/channel/rQRcUjbvVRk
On Friday, just click on this link and it should take you to our home page where we hope to have the live stream up and running around 6:15pm (central time). The ceremony remember starts at 6:30pm (central time). Once the ceremony has concluded the video recorded should stay on our channel as a recorded video, so it can be viewed later even if you can’t join us live. We hope this will allow more of our ECC family from around the country to be present with us, albeit virtually, for this important moment in the life of our Communion!

BOARD OF DIRECTORS –

Now is the time to start looking ahead to our Annual Meeting in November and looking for new persons to fill the board.  Every year, two terms expire – so we have at least two positions to fill, but we can also add more members to the Board of Directors.
We will be seeking new board members before our November Annual meeting – if you are interested in being on the Board of Directors, see Jerry Schearer, Fr. Henry, or any of the other board members for more information or to express your interest.   If you want to be part of the Nominating Committee that  we are not forming, please see Jerry.  This committee will be responsible to find at least two people to serve on the Board and then present these at the Annual Meeting to be voted on.

How are you doing answering this  past week’s
question of the week?
What shape does my particular cross take?  What is the heaviest aspect of it?  Forgetting my own cross for a moment, whose cross do I need to help carry this week?
