The Weekly GOOD NEWS Newsletter of All Souls ECC – Thanksgiving 2017

The weekly Newsletter of

ALL SOULS ECC

A Welcoming Family of Faith!

On behalf of the Board and Members of All Souls – we wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving week. We are grateful for the blessing of God including each of you for being a part of the All Souls family.

Sorry for any confusion – last weeks GOOD NEWS had this week’s scriptures, question of the week, and hymns. So if things look a little familiar this week, our apologies. If anyone is interested in helping to be an editor of the Good News, please see Jerry. Its quite easy to learn with some basic computer skills.

We hope you enjoy this issue of the Good News – with this weeks scriptures, hymns, and other information. Feel free to share with friends and family.

This weeks readings and question of the week

Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday. And as you meditate on them, consider the Question of the Week: Jesus is not only close to the poor. In the destitute, those who suffer, we encounter the Lord himself. He asks us: “Have you met me in them?” What do we answer him?

Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17
Psalm 23: 1-6
1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28
Matthew 25:31-46

MATTHEW 25: 31-46

Jesus said to his disciples:

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’

Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’

And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.’

Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’

Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’
He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’

And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Keith Green on Matthew 25: 31-46

Keith Green, an iconic and powerful gospel musician was a huge influence on me during my teen years. His life was cut short, but his music continues to be some of my favorite. Take a few minutes to listen to his song about these verses. Click Here: KEITH GREEN – The Sheep and the Goats (music video)

Blanket & Towel Collection

THANK YOU to everyone who donated blankets and towels and other needed items to our Thanksgiving Outreach Program.

These items were in high need by the clients at Opportunity House where they were delivered on November 22. Jamie, the volunteer coordinator said “THANK YOU TO ALL SOULS FOR THIER GENEROUSITY AND COMPASSION.”

If you forgot to bring in items and they are sitting next to your door waiting for you to bring them in, you can still bring them in – we will make another delivery between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
