Matthew 22: 37-39
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and most important commandment. And the second command is like the first: Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
- This is the third Gospel reading in a row in which Jesus was confronted by the Pharisees. They were trying to challenge is integrity each time. Jesus never responded in anger, sarcasm, or putting the other person down. He always responded by choosing his words carefully and using scripture to answer is opponents. He LIVED these two commandments. He LIVED his Love for God. And he LIVED his life Loving others – including his enemies. Be in prayer that we can try to follow his example and these two commandments.
