This weeks readings:

Take time to mediate on God’s word and prepare for worship this Sunday.

Leviticus 19:1-2, 15-18
Psalm 1
1 Thessalonians 2:1-8
Matthew  22:34-40
Matthew 22: 37-39
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and most important commandment.  And the second command is like the first: Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
This is the third Gospel reading in a row in which Jesus was confronted by the Pharisees.  They were trying to challenge is integrity each time.  Jesus never responded in anger, sarcasm, or putting the other person down.  He always responded by choosing his words carefully and using scripture to answer is opponents.  He LIVED these two commandments.  He LIVED his Love for God.  And he LIVED his life Loving others – including his enemies.   Be in prayer that we can try to follow his example and these two commandments.

Our annual meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 2 following worship service.  This will also serve as our November Potluck!     The meeting will not take long – but we believe it is important to share some information with the parish, talk about our future, elect new board members, and pass the 2015 budget. The Nominating Committee has selected the following people as nominees to the Board of Directors to be voted on during the Annual Meeting: Kim Kalbach, Henry Pruski, and Jerry Schearer.

We hope you can join us for this important time in the life our our parish.
